monkeys, dresses, & ice cream


so the book of the week is charley HARPER. he did a lot of animal illustrations with abc books and such. nice looking book...but it should be for $135.


over the past week i came across "crystallized: ways to say black". they're 22 black dresses using swarvoski crystals and designed by top fashion designers to benefit the american cancer society. i LOVE the photography for these (done by scheltens & abbenes). it's hard to give life to fashion that isn't on a person, but these do it so well. they have weight and form and movement, and i love the way the sheen of the black silk creates these violent, dagger-like, but still pillowy kind of shapes around the dresses. it's a little bit distracting for the black silk dresses that blend in, but overall i think the effect is stunning. i guess it doesn't hurt that the dresses are gorgeous, but whatever.



i guess i should post some ads since this is an advertising graphic design class.
